| Get to know the photographer! |
It's not always possible to call in for an informal chat before the shoot but try see samples of the photographers work. Ask them for references from other models they've worked with.

| Don't part with money for a test shoot! |
Don't get fooled into paying a vast amount for portfolio photographs. Most photographers will do you TFP (Time for Prints)
which means you pose for them and they supply photographs (Digital or Prints) for giving them your time.
VVG offer this service freely to any newcomer and even existing established models wanting new photographs, though we realise that not all models are
local to us.

| Studio, Home or Hotel shoots? |
Our feeling on this is definately use a studio! One local to yourself and call and see the owner, most studio owners will
quite happily discuss studio policy over a coffee with you. If you are local then most will ask you if you want to be listed with them. Which could mean more work opportunities.
But if a studio shoot is not possible and you're unsure of the photographer then take a friend along with you, if the photographer is genuine they should not
mind if you are not alone. If taking someone with you is not an option then phone a friend or relative, tell them exactly where you're going and how long you expect to be.
Tell them to call your mobile at a set time (most people have mobiles now).

| What Level was Arranged? |
Make sure you know exactly what the photographer wants to work to and that you have priced accordingly. Some photographers
may want you to go further but pay the same. Avoid this situation by ensuring the photographer knows your limits before the shoot and that it is clear exactly what is expected
of you during the shoot.
Avoid confrontation, but stand your ground!

Use your common sense and model safely!
We are not trying to scare models, it is extremely rare that you would be at risk but there are dangers and unscrupulous photographers who will try take advantage of you. Simply be aware of what is
going on around you.
